Making Everyday Money Decisions with Confidence

Money Skills for Greater Independence

Money decisions are part of everyday life. From planning what to spend to saving for something meaningful, young people benefit from opportunities to understand their options and practise making informed choices.

Bridgewell’s November Start, Focus, Finish (SFF) Life Readiness program makes financial literacy practical and approachable through guided activities, relatable examples, simple simulations, and personalized planning.

Our goal is not to make learners financial experts in four sessions. It is to build understanding, useful strategies, and confidence—one manageable decision at a time.

What Learners Will Explore

01 · Budget

Where Does My Money Go?

Explore money coming in and going out, spending priorities, needs and wants, and how to build a simple, realistic budget. Learners work through everyday scenarios, including unexpected expenses, to practise making choices within a set amount.

Learner takeaway: A simple personal budget and spending tracker.

02 · Save

How Can I Keep and Grow My Savings?

Explore saving goals, the purpose of bank accounts, digital banking, and how interest works. Through demonstrations and fictional comparisons, learners discover what to check when choosing a savings option—including safety, accessibility, and conditions attached to advertised rates.

Learner takeaway: A savings goal and banking checklist. No real account opening is required.

03 · Grow

What Does Investing Mean?

Get introduced to investing through familiar brands, everyday examples, and simple hands-on simulations. Learners explore the idea of owning a share of a company, how investing differs from saving, and why investment values can rise or fall.

Learner takeaway: A beginner-friendly investment understanding card. No real investments are made.

04 · Decide

What Is One Money Decision I Can Start Making?

Bring the learning together through real-life money dilemmas, comparisons, and guided planning. Learners consider affordability, risks, future priorities, and when to ask for support before choosing a realistic next step.

Final output: My Personal Money Plan + Spending & Saving System.

Practical Life Readiness

More Than Money Skills

Money management also involves executive-function skills: planning, prioritizing, organizing information, adjusting when circumstances change, and reflecting on decisions. These skills are intentionally woven into the financial activities—not taught as separate or overwhelming exercises.

Aligned with Bridgewell’s B.R.I.D.G.E.™ Framework, the program emphasizes regulating executive functions, individualizing learning systems, growing independence and confidence, and enabling future readiness.

Strengths-Based and Flexible

How We Teach

Our approach is structured, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming. Teachers use clear modelling, visual tools, guided practice, and flexible ways to participate. Learners can use calculators, checklists, reminders, and appropriate support as they practise new skills.

We recognize that independence does not mean doing everything alone. Knowing when to ask for guidance is part of confident decision-making.

Learner Fit

Who Is This For?

Adolescents and emerging adults who would benefit from guided opportunities to understand money, practise everyday financial choices, and develop practical routines for greater independence. Learning activities are adjusted to individual readiness and support needs; a formal diagnosis is not required to inquire.

Practical Tools to Keep Using

What Will Learners Take Home?

Each learner works toward a Personal Money Plan and Spending & Saving System, including a simple budget, a savings goal, a tracking strategy, and one realistic next step. The focus is on a usable plan—not on earning, saving, or investing a particular amount.
